This page offers you a selection of freely available information resources to help you in your search for economics literature. More detailed descriptions and links to further interesting sources are available on the site of the search tutorial LOTSE Economics (in German).
Records for books, journals and articles:
- Database ECONIS
ECONIS is the online catalogue of the ZBW. It also contains a large number of records for articles in journals and book chapters.
- Online Card Catalogue of the ZBW Kiel until 1985
This catalogue contains the holdings of the ZBW Kiel until 1985. They are also listed in ECONIS, but the old catalogue offers various approaches for a thematic search for older literature.
- Catalogue of the University and City Library Cologne (books and journals)
Here you can find literature especially for business economics and business administration.
- EconBiz search engine
The EconBiz search engine allows parallel searches in various economics databases and catalogues.
- GBV Search & Order
In GBV Search & Order you can find the current records for literature held by GBV-affiliated libraries in Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia.
- KVK Virtual Catalogue Karlsruhe (books and journals)
The KVK allows parallel searches in the catalogues of numerous German and foreign libraries and library networks.
- ZDB (journals etc.)
The journals database (ZDB) lists more than 1m titles of journals, newspapers and other periodical publications in all languages from 1500 to the present.

The electronic journals database (EZB) lists electronic journals and offers access to the full-texts of the contained articles.
- EconBiz – Full-Texts
Electronic full-texts in economics and business studies can be found in EconBiz, the Virtual Library for Economics and Business Studies.
- ECONIS – Online Publications
If you restrict your search in ECONIS with code 81 in the drop-down field “Type of publication/content” it will only show documents linked to an electronic full-text available for download.
- EconStor - ZBW Document Server
Here you can find full-text working papers in economics free for download. Most of these are working papers from Germany, but some series from the USA are also available. (Currently only available in German).
- The Library for Economics and Liberty –
Online Books and Essays
This database contains mostly classical standard works from economics which are offered for download, but some modern works are also available.
- RePEc
RePEc provides the largest index of freely available electronic full-texts in economics. Most documents are working papers or articles.
