NEEO – Network of European Economists Online is a project of NEREUS, an international network of academic libraries. It aims to provide open access to the academic output of economists on the internet, free of charge and unrestricted by licensing law. NEEO started in September 2007 and will be sponsored for 30 months by the European Union within its programme eContentplus. The project is managed by Tilburg University. All in all, 18 institutions from 10 countries are participating, including the ZBW, the London School of Economics, the University of Oxford and the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
The London launch conference for the Economists Online portal from the Nereus network took place at the British Library on 28 and 29 January 2010
In the context of NEEO ZBW closely cooperates with researchers of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. All publications of the Institute’s researchers are archived within a NEEO collection on EconStor – the ZBW digital archive for economics and business studies.
NEEO will bundle the complete records of all the publications of the participating researchers into the common portal “Economists Online”. If an electronic version of a publication exists that can be made available under current copyright provisions, the full text will be archived on document servers and made accessible for download. This will include postprints and retrodigitised documents, making full texts available which until now could not be accessed freely and electronically.
